Nottingham Forest Community Trust training event (February-March 2025)
Our students had the opportunity to take part in a training event developed by a Nottingham Forest Community Trust trainee coaches, Katelin and Ruby. The training sessions kick started with a limbering warm up. Challenged to pass, tackle and shoot - our students did the academy proud with their vigour and enthusiasm to get stuck in the game.
The Brunts Academy
Feeling comfortable on their own ‘astroturf’, the group of 20 Year 7, 8 and 9s played a game of football rounders with Matt, Katelin and Ruby’s mentor. This fun and engaging game got our students moving and ready for 3 rotational games of 5-a-side.
Forest Sports Zone
During their final visit to Forest Sports Zone, we had a clear blue sky, and our students were put through their paces to improve their agility skills. Katelin and Ruby divided the group into 2 teams to play an energetic match against one other.
Thank you Nottingham Forest Community Trust
A huge thank you to Matt, Katelin and Ruby for all their hard work, putting together a training programme for our students to engage with.
Derby County FC training event (November 2024)
Mrs Meade and I had the pleasure of taking 31 Year 7 and 8s to Derby County FC’s training ground, Moore Farm. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to train alongside Moore Farm's scholarship students. All students did a fantastic job of representing the Brunts Academy. During the training event they were split into 3 groups to participate in different training activities, such as penalty shoot outs, tackling and 5 a side. It was lovely to see our students engaging in the activities with such passion and enthusiasm - undeterred by the low temperatures. Our players of the day were Terese T with his impressive foot work and Megan R for her tenacity playing 5 a side. We spoke with Ben Cocker, part of Moore Farm’s education team, who delighted in showing us the impressive facilities at Moore Farm, including 11 training grass/astroturf pitches. Students also got to see the exterior of Derby County FC’s iconic Pride Park football stadium situated in Derby. Thank you to Moore Farm’s friendly staff for making us feel welcome and organising the training event. - Mrs Cammillare
